School Council

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

🌟 School Council Update: Our Focus for This Term 🌟

We are excited to share the School Council's priorities for this term. Our councillors have listened carefully to the ideas and suggestions from pupils across the school and have chosen some ambitious projects that will help us make a positive difference to our school, our local community and our environment.

📢 Every Voice Matters

This term, we are launching our School Council Suggestion Box.

This is an opportunity for every child to have their voice heard. Pupils can share ideas, ask questions, suggest improvements or highlight issues that are important to them. The School Council will review suggestions regularly and work with staff to make positive changes wherever possible.

We want every child to know that their opinions matter and that they can help shape the future of our school.

🎉 Fun Day Friday

One of the initiatives we are most excited about is our new Fun Day Friday, which will take place on the last Friday of half term.

On Fun Day Friday, learning will be presented differently. Children can look forward to exciting projects, practical challenges, outdoor learning, creative activities, teamwork opportunities and hands-on experiences that bring learning to life.

These special days will:

  • Inspire curiosity and creativity
  • Make learning memorable and engaging
  • Encourage collaboration and problem-solving
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Celebrate the joy of learning

We hope Fun Day Friday becomes a highlight of the month for every child!

♻️ Reducing Plastic Waste: Our Biggest Challenge Yet!

One of the School Council's biggest priorities this term is helping our school become more environmentally friendly by reducing single-use plastic.

We are challenging every class to reduce the number of single-use plastic water bottles brought into school and replace them with reusable water bottles.

Throughout the term, the School Council will monitor how well each class is doing. Classes that consistently choose reusable bottles and show a commitment to reducing waste will gain points towards our environmental competition.

🏆 The class that demonstrates the greatest commitment to reducing plastic waste and using reusable bottles will receive a special reward at the end of the challenge!

We want every child to understand that:

  • Reusable bottles reduce waste.
  • Less plastic means less pollution.
  • Small changes can make a big difference.
  • Looking after our planet is everyone's responsibility.

We are encouraging our children to become environmental leaders and help create a cleaner, greener future.

🌍 Recycle, Reuse, Protect

Our environmental work does not stop there!

This term, we will be learning more about:

  • Recycling correctly
  • Reducing waste at home and school
  • Reusing materials where possible
  • Protecting wildlife and natural habitats
  • Making sustainable choices

The School Council wants recycling to become part of our everyday habits and is determined to help everyone understand how powerful our actions can be when we work together.

✍️ Taking Our Message Further

As part of our environmental campaign, School Council members will be writing letters to:

👑 His Majesty The King

🏛️ Members of Parliament

We want our children to share their ideas, concerns and hopes for the future of our planet. This will be a wonderful opportunity for pupils to use their voices beyond our school and engage with important national issues in a positive and respectful way.

By writing these letters, our children will demonstrate that young people can make a difference and help influence change.

😊 Kindness, Wellbeing and Community

Alongside these projects, we will continue to promote kindness, friendship, respect and positive wellbeing throughout the school. We want our school to be a place where everyone feels safe, valued and happy.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Together, we can empower our children to become responsible citizens, confident learners and positive changemakers.

Remember: Every voice matters, every action counts, and together we can make a real difference to our school, our community and our world.

Yours sincerely,

The School Council
Working together to make a difference.
